CARE – NET is managed by Dr. Tarry Asoka in Nigeria. The organisation provides leadership in a broad range of strategic and technical areas related to Nigeria’s Health Sector Reform Programme enabling the country make  progress towards the MDGs. They advise and support Nigeria’s efforts to improve health service provision through improved policies, more efficiently managed sector resources, and improved quality of health services.

Chikwe Ihekweazu is an epidemiologist and consultant public health physician. He is the Editor of Nigeria Health Watch, and the Managing Partner of EpiAfric (, which provides expertise in public health research and advisory services, health communication and professional development. He previously held leadership roles at the South African National Institute for Communicable Diseases and the UK's Health Protection Agency. Chikwe has undertaken several short term consultancies for the World Health Organisation, mainly in response to major outbreaks. He is a TED Fellow and co-curator of TEDxEuston.


Pharmaceutical Medicine is inflated up to 10,000 percent or more for the simple reason that pharmaceutical companies and their lobbyists pay to keep cheaper drugs from our country. They pay lobbyists on both sides of aisle to ensure that their drugs are the only ones that can be sold in this country. If we could get cheaper drugs from alternative sources so that the cost of drugs would immediately deflate and half the health crisis would be solved. It would be a fair competition, as our country is supposed to promote and guarantee.
